Every culture has its lore, songs, and sayings about a home’s importance. A home has to be the picture of comfort, warmth, and security for every family member. Despite the importance of a home for families, women have to suffer violence, humiliation, and pain at the hands of their male partners. In fact, violence against females is common and has far-reaching impacts in Australia and other parts of the world. For a long time, the incidences of violence remained behind closed doors and didn’t get public attention. But that has changed now with the advent of a domestic violence alarm. Accessing domestic violence alarm systems is easy now, thanks to their popularity and effectiveness. When women and other at-risk groups use personal domestic alarms, they feel safer and more confident. And when a lady feels safe and confident, she can engage with her children, friends, and co-workers more productively without feeling anxious. But here’s the million-dollar question: How can you find good domestic violence alarms? If you don’t know the answer to this question, then we’ll help. In this explainer, we’ll dive deep into picking domestic violence alarms. More discreet This is the first thing that every domestic violence alarm should have. If the alarm you purchased is discreet, then it won’t be noticed by an abuser that easily. This way, women who face a violent situation at home will raise the alarm without letting anyone know about it. More accurate The alarm must be able to give accurate locations where the incidence is taking place. If the alarm shares faulty coordinates of where the situation is taking place, then the abusee will never be able to get help on time. That’s why an alarm system must have a powerful system to share the exact coordinates of the location where the abuse is. More reliable If the domestic violence alarm is more accurate and discreet, then it’s bound to be reliable too. The dependability of the alarm also depends on the longevity of the alarm; you have to understand for how long and effectively can the alarm serve the abuse victims. More user-friendly If the domestic violence duress alarm doesn’t allow the customer to use the device easily, then it’s pointless. The interface of the alarm should be simple to navigate, and the learning curve shouldn’t be too steep either. So, if you feel the alarm is difficult to set up and to is challenging to use, then you must not invest in the equipment, no matter how much of a jaw-dropping deal you may be about to clinch. More affordable Taking of affordability, we’d like to mention that the domestic violence alarm must not break the bank. The system should be affordable in every sense of the word. But make sure the affordability doesn’t come at the cost of effectiveness. If the alarm isn’t serving the purpose for which it was bought, then it’s not worth a single penny. Besides these factors, community workers may also have a hard time analysing a situation which may lead to uncontrolled behaviours of their clients. Resultantly, a worker may be at risk of experiencing challenges in the form of violent behaviours from the clients or their visitors. Some common forms of challenging behaviours that community workers face every day are as follows.
Experienced workers, however, use their interpersonal skills to de-escalate such situations while minimising the probability of them getting deteriorated. The fact is, not community every worker is experienced enough to handle these situations effectively. The effects of that harm can be sharper, depending on the worker’s values, beliefs and previous experiences. The previous caregivers, family or friends of the client with a history of aggressive behaviour must tell community workers about the challenges of working with the individual. The Albanese Government is serious about delivering safer workplaces for all Australian workers. A personal alarm is a watch or small pendant that the elderly can wear and use whenever they need help. The alarm is usually helpful whenever the elderly become disoriented, have a fall, feel unwell, or are in an emergency. An emergency alarm for the elderly usually has a clear, big button that can be pressed anytime. Whenever the elderly press this button, they will raise the alarm to people in the neighbourhood or inform family members or notify a dispatcher that operates 24/7. With the help of these alarms, you can help your elderly relative remain safe and independent at home. The use of these alarms becomes all the more important in the current pandemic where you may not be able to visit your parents or elderly relatives so frequently. Here is where a personal alarm system comes in. With the help of this alarm system, you can rest assured that your senior relative is safe alone even in these challenging times. Are you still confused about whether you should buy personal medical alarms for your elderly relative? If so, then here is the only question that you need to ask yourself before making the purchase. Will my senior relative wear the medical alarm system? Your purchase decision should depend on the answer to this question only. Some elderly people may not be willing to wear an alarm system. Either they may be uncomfortable wearing the alarm, or they may find the whole shebang useless. If your parent or elderly relative is unwilling to wear the alarm because of any reason, then you will have to answer some questions. First, ask yourself whether your senior relative has had any history of falls. Then you will have to find out how many chronic conditions your relative has. After that, you will have to understand whether your elderly relative is predisposed to any illness or medical condition. If you feel that your elderly relative is in danger for not wearing a medical alarm system, then you must convince them to wear it. Sometimes, the elderly person assumes that having a cell phone is enough to raise the alarm. But that is not sufficient in most cases—especially if the senior has suffered a fall or have become unconscious. And the need for investing in the best medical alarms will become all the more pressing when the elderly person suffers from more chronic conditions or has a history of falls. Wrapping it up So, you must pay attention to the elderly person’s care needs. If elderly people need assistance in their day-to-day activities, then it is worthwhile to have a candid conversation with them about a medical alert system. Remember, frail seniors who suffer from declining health need personal medical alarms, no matter what. This way, you can strengthen their protection and have some peace of mind. Despite having a medical alarm, your elderly relatives need to be checked upon regularly. Call them twice or thrice a day and see if something is bothering them. Once you bring a new personal medical alarm for the elderly, make sure they have learnt how to use the equipment. This way, you can do your bit to protect the elderly person from suffering an injury. With age, our minds and body may deteriorate naturally. Moreover, many injuries, diseases, and disorders can prevent us from living healthy life without facing any problems. The question is, how do we deal with these situations? When one of our loved ones finds it hard to function optimally in their daily life, some of us tend to believe they will recover and overlook the various dangers that can occur during such situations. In reality, we need to first understand and accept the situation our loved one is in and implement the necessary precautionary measures to avoid further problems. One of the latest precautionary measures that you can leverage involves the use of a GPS tracker for alerting you in emergencies. The best personal emergency alarms use GPS tracking for emergency monitoring of a person. Here are some warning signs that indicate you require a personal emergency alarm. Risk of Falling Elderly people, especially those above 65 years of age are prone to the risk of falling, and this risk increases with age. Falls can be fatal in some cases and lead to grave injury. If you choose to restrict the movement of your loved one who is at risk of falling, their mental and physical health can worsen further. The best way of solving this problem is by equipping them with a personal emergency alarm. It helps elderly people feel safe and allows them to live with peace of mind. Instant help is decisive if a sudden fall occurs, and a smart GPS tracker system can alert you on time so that you can bring in medical help to the injured person faster. Memory Loss People suffering from dementia can often find themselves in a tough spot, finding it hard to make a way back to their homes. If one of your family or friends is a victim of memory loss, purchasing the best personal emergency alarm can help. These alarms provide the accurate location of your loved one who needs help and allows you to bring them back to a secure location. Medical Emergencies Many health conditions including diabetes, osteoarthritis, and high blood pressure can expose your loved ones to recurring risks. You might require medical help if a chronically ill person forgets to take medicines on time, suffers a sudden attack, or has difficulty in breathing.
